Thursday the 2nd of March third year photography students held their final interim show, showing their work in progress in preparation for the graduation exhibition in June. For this show I presented my most recent work on my project I See This in Girls Your Age which explores medical misogyny and its effects through the lived experiences of different generations of women within a single family.

I selected a series of three images for the show presented on silk card, in the center an A3 portrait of Caroline, alongside an image of her hand showing the scars and deformities which resulted from late diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis that was initially dismissed by doctors. On the opposite side of the portrait is an image of a broken hospital wheelchair abandoned outside a building, intending to work as a visual metaphor for the experiences of some patients.

The interim show provided an opportunity for me to receive constructive feedback from both peers and lecturers, helping me where to develop the project from here. Some of the suggestions I received included involving text relating to the individuals experience in the exhibition, incorporating my own experiences in the project, and having a photo-book as the main body of work which I can include additional contextual research in.
